I don’t have to list the reasons why your mom deserves an amazing gift this year, because you already know them. Still, that doesn’t make picking out something any easier. In fact, it just adds to the pressure.
If you’re really looking to “step up your game” this time around, consider some of these unique suggestions. On top of bringing tears of laughter, joy, and appreciation to your mother’s eyes, you can let her know that a portion of your gift purchase was donated to her favorite charity (you can learn about how that works here). It won’t add anything extra to the cost of your purchase; I just made sure to pick out gifts from philanthropic brands.
With that in mind, be prepared to make a sibling or two jealous, even if you’re grown adults. I’m not going to say that your mom has a favorite child, but this year, I’m fairly confident you’ll be giving her the best gift.
First thing’s first–you’ll need a card for your mom. But don’t just get her some generic card from a convenience store. She’s gotten enough of those cards with sparkly flowers and cliché messages or poorly drawn cats with tacky jokes. A card like this one looks elegant but adds a touch of humor (plus the truth). I mean, she always brags about how awesome you are, so you might as well just stick to the facts.

Just because your mom likes to cook doesn’t mean that she has a collection of frilly aprons. If she has a multidimensional personality with a wide range of skills, then maybe she just happens to be an excellent chef with a geeky side. This “motherboard” cutting board is made from easy-to-clean, scratch-proof glass. She’ll love using it on every day of the year except for Mother’s Day, because you’re obviously cooking her a meal or taking her out to a nice dinner.

If you already got your mom a fantastic chopping board (because you fulfilled your duty as the perfect child last year), then consider these adorable cookie stamps. Any mom who knows how to bake a mean cookie without using a mix deserves a stamp of authenticity.

There comes a time in almost everyone’s life when a person will say, “Oh wow. I’ve become my mother.” After the first realization, you might not want to admit it, but eventually it’s so obvious that you can’t hide it anymore. Your mom has likely said it at one point in her life too, so it’s applicable in a handful of ways. She’ll be more than happy to hang this up somewhere in her house, but beware: she may point to this sign and tease you for the rest of her life. She’s been immune to your eye rolling for years now anyway.

Long-distance can be pretty rough for a mom. You might’ve gotten her mugs in the past, but this will probably be the best one yet. It’s customizable to include both of the states you live in, along with a flower on the exact location. This gift is pretty self-explanatory, but still very thoughtful.

Does your mom love the Beatles and tea? Well then, I think you know what I’m getting at over here. As quite possibly the coolest tea infuser ever, this yellow submarine is small enough to fit into a mug but has a nice chain for bobbing the flavors. It’s a great gift to pair up with the mug featured above.

When was the last time your mom said, “Ugh. I wish I didn’t have so much jewelry.” Basically, as long as you pick out something elegant, you’re pretty much guaranteed to make your mom happy. This sterling silver design is customizable to fit your mom’s preferences. You can choose the length and the amount of little labeled birds, which represent you and your siblings. The necklace comes in a nice gift box, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

Of course you love your mother (if you didn’t care, you wouldn’t be reading this!) but sometimes it’s difficult to truly show your appreciation for her. This hardcover book is the easiest way to express your emotions and let your mom know how special she really is. It includes guided statements and questions to help you say all of the right things. Prepare for the waterworks–she’s going to need some tissues.
