During June, We-Care.com chose to highlight our partner causes working to fight hunger. As part of our Cause of the Month program, we’ve looked at discovering opportunities to save and donate food that would otherwise be wasted, fulfilling the needs of a local community, and running a food drive of our own! To wrap up a great month, we’d like to thank all our users who chose to shop in support of our Cause of the Month, and, of course, our Cause of the Month organizations who are doing the important work to fight hunger. Your We-Care.com donations help Move For Hunger work with relocation companies to strengthen the efforts of our nations banks. Many people throw out a good deal of stuff when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of what is wasted is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. Our partners offer to pick up unopened, non-perishable food items during the moving process and deliver it to local food banks. By teaming up with moving companies, real estate agents, and relocation professionals across the country, Move For Hunger provides relief for hungry Americans struggling to find their next meal.

Your We-Care.com donations help the Vermont Food Bank provide security for the thousands of Vermonters who access the Foodbank’s network of 280 food shelves, meal sites, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs. More than 88,000 Vermonters are at risk of hunger according to the USDA. For every $10 donation the Vermont Foodbank can acquire and distribute 40 pounds of food, the equivalent of nearly 60 meals.
