Sixt is a car rental company with 100 years of experience. With a fleet of 180,000 vehicles available, you can be assured that wherever you are, there’s something for you. And while Sixt is proud to provide over 4,000 convenient worldwide locations to their customers, they are also proud of the philanthropic work that they do.
There are severely ill children in the world who lack medical and emotional care. Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation has made it their business to provide these children with a better life. Founded in 2000, the foundation is modeled after the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is divided into four program areas: health, care, education, and emergency aid. The association takes on their own initiatives to achieve the defined objectives, but also supports projects of third parties. In the end, their goal is simple: to put smiles on children’s faces.
Regine Sixt, one of the most well-known women in Germany and founder of the organization, has been committed to helping those less fortunate than herself. Regine states, “Of course, commercial success is a definite requirement for us and our employees. But companies – including SIXT AG – face the challenge to do more. This particularly includes social commitment.” She uses her popularity to collect donations and create meaningful events. For example, each year in Munich, there is an event called Oktoberfest. Prominent women from the media, politics, and industry come to the event. As part of Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation, children are also the center of attention. At the event, sick and needy children can enjoy themselves and forget their suffering for a few hours by eating food, enjoying rides, and mingling with others.
Children have also been given the opportunity to apply for “My Heart’s Desire.” During this campaign, who were suffering from life-threatening diseases were encouraged to write a letter that indicated their greatest wish. In the letter, their name, age, hobbies, and pictures were also included. One inspiring story included a young boy named Christopher, who was suffering from bone cancer. His wish was to see Formula 1 live and meet his idol, Michael Schumacher. The wish came true for him, and many other children fulfilled their dreams as well.
On the 30th anniversary of the aid organization “A Heart for Children,” the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation came up with a special idea. They raffled off the Offroader Merecedes GLK in a large draw. 70,000 tickets were sold at two euros each. All of the proceeds benefited “A Heart for Children.” After raising 50,000 euros, the funds went towards building a new school in Tanzania.
Sixt has been involved in many other philanthropic projects, which can be found on the webpage of Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation. Consider donating to this worthy cause by visiting their special donation page.
