At the age of 44, Donn Schmidt — a friend of We-Care.com — lost his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS is a highly progressive neurodegenerative disease that has no known cure. Approximately 5,600 people in the United States are diagnosed with ALS each year; most have a prognosis of 2-5 years.
So throughout the month of May (ALS Awareness month), We-Care.com is raising funds to search for a cure. On June 6, in conjunction with Donn’s friends and family, We-Care.com is hosting on the first annual Donn’s Dash 5K in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to benefit the ALS Association.
Register and join us in June, or simply designate the Cause of the Month as your nonprofit when you shop to donate to Donn’s Dash.
Join us in creating discussion, promoting awareness and finding a cure with May’s Cause of the Month: Donn’s Dash.
